David B Gelbmann, DPM

Board-certified podiatric physician and surgeon David Gelbmann, DPM, specializes in treating all ailments of the foot, ankle, and leg at Gelbmann Podiatry, with two locations in the Near Southside and West Town neighborhoods of Chicago, Illinois. He has a special interest in the healing of complicated wounds of the lower extremity, the treatment of chronic foot and leg pain, and sports medicine.

Dr. Gelbmann graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with dual degrees in molecular biology and biology before attending the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. Afterward, he completed an intense three-year surgical residency at one of Detroit’s largest and busiest hospitals, St. John Hospital and Medical Center. While he was a resident, he performed 2-5 foot and ankle surgeries per day under the tutelage of Detroit’s best foot and ankle doctors. Following his residency, he moved to Vernon Hills, Illinois, and worked as an associate in private practice before settling in Chicago.

He is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. He is a surgical attending physician and is on staff at Northwestern and Weiss Memorial Hospitals. . In addition, he has published several papers and is a three-time participant and author in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons Scientific Literature Review. He is on staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Weiss Memorial Hospital.

In his free time, Dr. Gelbmann enjoys running, playing softball, and spending time with his wife and young children. He also volunteers yearly in the medical tent at the Chicago Marathon and other running events in the Midwest.

Tanvi Kadakia, DPM

Tanvi Kadakia, DPM, is a Foot & Ankle Surgeon practicing at Gelbmann Podiatry, with two locations in the South Loop and West Town neighborhoods of Chicago. She was born and raised in Chicago and attended Loyola University Chicago obtaining degrees in Biology and Psychology. She graduated from Temple University of Podiatric Medicine and completed an intensive reconstructive foot and ankle surgical residency at Ascension St. John Hospital where she served as chief resident. She is proficient with foot and ankle reconstruction and has extensive training in treating severe bunions, hammertoes, and other forefoot deformities. She uses an individual patient-centered approach to address specific treatments to meet her patients’ needs. She specializes in comprehensive foot and ankle needs, including sports medicine, tendonitis, fractures, arthritis, wound care, heel pain, bunions, hammertoes, nerve pain, limb salvage. During her free time, Dr. Kadakia enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking and traveling.
