David B Gelbmann, DPM

Board-certified podiatric physician and surgeon David Gelbmann, DPM, specializes in treating all ailments of the foot, ankle, and leg at Gelbmann Podiatry, with two locations in the Near Southside and West Town neighborhoods of Chicago, Illinois. He has a special interest in the healing of complicated wounds of the lower extremity, the treatment of chronic foot and leg pain, and sports medicine. Dr. Gelbmann graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with dual degrees in molecular biology and biology before attending the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. Afterward, he completed an intense three-year surgical residency at one of Detroit’s largest and busiest hospitals, St. John Hospital and Medical Center. While he was a resident, he performed 2-5 foot and ankle surgeries per day under the tutelage of Detroit’s best foot and ankle doctors. Following his residency, he moved to Vernon Hills, Illinois, and worked as an associate in private practice before settling in Chicago. He is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. He is a surgical attending physician and is on staff at Northwestern and Weiss Memorial Hospitals. . In addition, he has published several papers and is a three-time participant and author in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons Scientific Literature Review. He is on staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Weiss Memorial Hospital. In his free time, Dr. Gelbmann enjoys running, playing softball, and spending time with his wife and young children. Dr. Garen Azizi, D.P.M is a new physician to Gelbmann Podiatry. He is passionate about providing the utmost patient care to his patients and enjoys treating challenging foot and ankle pathologies. Dr. Azizi graduated from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and completed his residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Azizi received an extensive training in sports medicine, trauma, foot and ankle surgery, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, wound care, and routine foot care. Dr. Azizi is American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) candidate. During his free time, Dr. Azizi enjoys watching and playing sports, spending time with his family and traveling. He is conversational in Spanish and fluent in Armenian and English.

I didn’t have to wait long and because I came early the doctor was able to see me sooner. I received 2 shots near my second toe on my right foot then the doctor gave me a band to pull around my arch and a band for my toes. I have a follow up appointment and the doctor recommended a Hemp crème (which they sell) and said Icould do laser therapy on my right foot if I like. The appointment lasted maybe 30 minutes. He's knowledgeable, and stays up to date in the newest most innovative podiatry care and he makes it available to his patients. He's easy to talk to, and really listens. I never feel like I'm being rushed.
His staff is equally wonderful. Alma, Maria, and Lana are absolutely the best at what they do. They go above and beyond to take good care of you.
